Lesson note
Everyday friendliness: Striking up a conversation with a stranger — in line at a store, at a party, or in a waiting room — is common and welcomed in Puerto Rico. Small talk about family, where you're from, and shared acquaintances often comes before getting to the point of a conversation.
Practice tip: Treat family questions as follow-up small talk after names and a little context, not as the first thing you ask someone.
Tip: turn pronunciation off to test yourself.
